Approaching Abandonment.

Approaching Abandonment is a project by Emilia Harle and Natalia-A. Bakula aimed at understanding hidden aspects of emigration which in the heated debates of the recent years were sufficiently ignored.

The research started in the eastern region of Slavonija in Croatia to trace the reasons for people's emigration in the 1990s and the current perceptions of those who remain today.

The intention to move from a theoretical investigation with corresponding projects, publications and approaches to an empirical one, where the confrontation with concrete life circumstances implements the previously developed methodology, is deliberately chosen. The reader should be able to understand the weighting of aspects concerning the moral and effective implications of capturing people's lived realities and translating them into creative work.
